Hybrid “Superpredator” Invading California Ponds
By Sami on June 30th, 2009

National Geographic has an article about a new predator that is devastating California’s ecosystem:
“[The hybrids] seem to be more voracious and a little more aggressive,” Ryan said. “Just watching their behavior, they’ll go after each other and the other prey.”
The culprit? A supersized hybrid salamander (C & D), the result of the native California tiger salamander and the barred tiger salamander.
