Expense proportions in the main go someplace in the range of 0.6 to 2.5% of net assets per year for non-index funds and from 0.1 to 0.7% per year for index funds. If you buy and ETF you have to pay back brokerage house fees to purchase and trade. If you purchase a no load fund there is no fees for purchasing or selling. Some have slightly advanced expense ratios. Some do not.
